What are your hours?
8.00am to 5.30pm seven days a week. We
are closed to the public Christmas Day & New Years Day.
What do you feed?
We feed Eagle - All Natural Brand.
How often do you go out to the kennels?
Approximately every two hours from 7:00am
- 10:00pm.
Can I bring my own food?
Yes.
Are reservations required?
Not normally, but during the holiday
seasons, it is wise to reserve.
What are the accommodations like?
Each dog has
his own separate indoor-outdoor pen, inside being 6ft x 4ft, and the outside
being 12ft x 4ft. The building has radiant gas heat for the winter and in
centrally air conditioned for the summer.
Our cattery is
in a separate room in our basement so the cats are not disturbed by the dogs
barking or any other noise that they may not be used to. Cats are visited
on the same rotation basis as the dogs and get lots of attention!
What should I bring with my dog?
Proof of
vaccination, as well as proof of immunization for Bordetella (kennel cough). The
dog’s collar and leash, his own bed, blanket and crate if you wish. Some of your
dogs toys if he has any, and an article of old clothing from his favourite
person, something that has been worn but not washed so it retains the scent.
Dogs will settle in much quicker if they can smell their owner nearby. Make sure
the article you bring is something no longer needed, as dogs on occasion have
destroyed the article.
How much attention will my dog get while at the kennel?
Depending on
the dog, and the weather, your dog will be played with, brushed & walked daily.
What time can I drop my dog off?
Anytime between
8:00 am and 5:30 pm. If you drop your dog off between 5:00pm and 5:30pm there
will be no charge for that day. This is handy for those needing an early start.
No matter what time you pick your dog up on the last day, dog owners are
charged for the whole day.
Is there a charge for administering medication?
No, that
service is included.
What experience do you have in dealing with dogs?
Between the two
of us (Brenda and Bruce) we offer an accumulated 80 years experience. We both come
from dog raising families. We have been raising dogs ourselves for more than
forty years. Brenda is a past training director for the Thunder Bay Kennel and
Training Club and is still an active trainer for that organization. Brenda has
also put tittles on our own dogs that include obedience, conformation, tracking,
and herding. Brenda also conducts private training sessions for people with dogs
that have problems.
